Day Trips
The Waldhäuslalm offers everything you need for a successful day trip by bus: It is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and is easy to reach via a well-maintained toll-free road.
The parking area for coaches is right in front of the hut, while the entrance is barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible.
Guests can then make themselves comfortable, etiher in our rustic dining rooms or, if the weather is nice, either in the winter garden or out on the sun terrace.
The journey is also rewarding from a culinary perspective: At the Waldhäuslalm, we place particular store in quality and regionality. Our comprehensive menu includes regional specialties, products from our own farm as well as homemade pastries.
Offers and Packages
- Upon request, the team of the Waldhäuslalm will be happy to organize a traditional hut evening, with live performances that might feature a harmonica player, a solo entertainer etc.
- It is also possible to take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage from Rohrmoos to the Waldhäuslalm, where your guests will be invited to step inside to enjoy homemade punch or Jagatee next to the tile stove in our cozy dining room.
- We are also well prepared for excursioners looking for a culinary experience in Untertal. For example, the Waldhäuslalm offers meals of pork knuckle and spare ribs, traditional hut favorites such as black-pudding griddles or cheese noodles served right out of the pan, as we do a rustic hut breakfast.

Excursions in Summer
- The grounds surrounding our Alm - also including two ponds - are ideal for a pleasant stroll and are readily wheelchair-accessible.
- A detour to the barn to visit with the animals, or to the big adventure playground is always popular with the kids.
- Setting out from the Waldhäuslalm, in summer you have a wide selection of hiking trails and footpaths to choose from, including in alpine terrain, to destinations such as the Klafferkessel or the Riesachsee. Our Waldhäusl Alm also lies on "Wild Waters", one of the most extraordinary hiking paths in the world, named the first ever "National Geographic Hiking Path" in 2009.
- Bruno's Archery World:
3D course, ca. 3 km from the Waldhäuslalm. Free basic introduction to the sport of archery given to beginners by an expert.

- Bankerlweg: panorama roundwalk on the mountain Hochwurzen
- Mountain GoKart 7 km from the Waldhäuslalm: "Sensational, unique and enormous fun" - this is how most people describe their first ride on a mountain gokart. Zooming down the Hochwurzen road on this innovative piece of sporting equipment is an adventure for the whole family, clubs and businesses - for young and old.
All-weather attractions in summer & winter
- Whenever the sun happens not to be shining, we recommend paying a visit to the Loden Mill in Ramsau, Wollwelt Steiner1888 in Mandling or the schnapps distillery at the Mandlberggut - all of these businesses offer guided tours with advance notice.
- Afterwards, you can go ahead and schedule a "Hut Evening", coffee & cake, or simply enjoy a pleasant get-together here with us at the Waldhäuslalm.
Excursions in Winter
- The Waldhäuslalm is also a appealing excursion destination in winter, too - the road leading to Untertal is kept clear - making us ideal for families, business events, Christmas parties etc.
- In winter, there is no shortage of things for visitors to do away from the pistes either - and there is no better way to explore the snowy Untertal Valley which surrounds the Waldhäuslalm than on foot, with snowshoes or on cross-country skies.
- For children, the playground as well as the barn are also open in winter.
- For a convivial afternoon or a traditional "Hut Evening", you might wish to take advantage of the floodlit ice-stock rink right next to us, or even arrive here on a horse-drawn sleigh.
